Electric skateboard rental: why hotels and campsites are taking it up
One more activity for your business
Why electric skateboard rental appeals to outdoor professionals
A 4-star seaside hotel, a premium mountain campsite or a bike rental company in a tourist area are all looking for the same thing: an activity that sets their offer apart without making operations more complex. Electric skateboard rental meets this need for a simple reason: the product fits in a storeroom, charges from a standard socket, and can be rented by the hour or the half-day, like an e-bike but with a different experience to offer the customer.
The electric micromobility sector passed 66.4 billion dollars worldwide in 2022, with expected annual growth of 13% until 2032 according to Global Market Insights. Part of this growth comes from rental companies and tourist businesses diversifying the mobility options they offer their customers.
A board that lasts the whole season
For an outdoor activity manager, the question is not top speed or maximum range: it is how well the board stands up to intensive use. A board rented several times a day, exposed to sand by the sea or snow at a ski resort, has to take that pace without repeated breakdowns. An IP67-waterproof motor built into the wheel, and a chassis you can simply hose down, keep the equipment from being out of action in the middle of the season.
Running costs also weigh directly on the decision. A full charge of a removable-battery configuration costs about 0.15 euros for 50 kilometres of range, a figure that lets you work out a cost per rental rather than rely on an unverifiable promise of profitability.
Breakage, safety, training: what professionals ask
What worries outdoor activity managers first is breakage under intensive use and staff training, not the product itself. The optional mechanical brake, a second braking system independent of the motor, addresses the safety question. For training, the step-by-step guides on the Tutorials page help staff get to grips with the board quickly.
The e-bike, a useful point of comparison
Rental companies that already offer e-bikes already have a profitability benchmark: equipment paid off over several seasons, limited maintenance costs, hourly or daily rates comparable from one outdoor activity to another. The all-terrain electric skateboard follows the same business model, with an extra point of difference: few businesses offer this activity today, unlike e-bikes, which are already widespread in tourist offers.
This difference matters particularly for premium businesses, 4-star hotels and upmarket campsites, looking for an original experience for guests who have often already tried e-bikes elsewhere.
