Five ways to use an all-terrain electric skateboard
Each of the five uses below points you to the most suitable configuration and guide.
Before choosing a configuration, it is simpler to start from what you plan to do with it rather than from your profile. An all-terrain electric skateboard works just as well for a daily commute as for a carving session on a slope, a family outing or an exploration over several days.
The guides
Good to know
Each of the five uses below points you to the most suitable configuration and guide.
For a daily ride around town, go for simplicity: integrated battery, moderate weight. The Stern' rides on cycle lanes, as the EDPM regulations provide (EDPM is the French legal category for powered personal transporters). See the Commuting guide and the Stern' Urban product page.
If you want to find boardsports sensations close to snowboarding outside the snow season, the 2000 W configuration with backpack battery gives you the power you need to link your turns. See the carving sessions guide and the configuration comparison tool to choose between the available power ratings.
For a group outing, beginners included, the priority is stability and learning step by step with the learning pole. An all-terrain longboard like the Stern' lets you ride in the forest, on tracks or on compacted paths without changing equipment from one terrain to the next. See the family outings guide.
To explore far from the roads, range becomes the number one criterion: up to 100 km depending on the configuration and how you ride. A configuration with a large battery, able to climb steep slopes, is better suited here than an urban board. See the Riding off-road guide.
If you regularly change where you live or where you are based (van, temporary accommodation, business travel), compactness and ease of transport come before raw power. The configuration with a removable backpack battery is easier to store than a fixed integrated battery. See the nomadic mobility guide.
Each use can be combined with several motor configurations (1000 W or 2000 W) and battery configurations (integrated or backpack, 50, 75 or 100 km range). To compare the eight configurations in one table, see the Compare the Stern' configurations page.
