Electric longboard for boardsports riders

You have been surfing, snowboarding or skateboarding for years and you want an electric longboard that holds its own when there are no waves or the snow has not fallen.

The guide

A plan B when there are no waves

An electric longboard designed for people who already ride boards

The Stern' is a three-wheeled electric longboard: motor in the rear wheel, backpack battery, IP67 waterproof. In 2000 W, it climbs slopes of up to 35%, and its range goes up to 100 km depending on the battery. It is not an urban gadget: it was designed by two physicists who tested their prototypes on sand before selling them.

Why the Stern' speaks to riders

The three wheels come from a cross between a classic skateboard and an electric unicycle. The result: the board leans naturally into turns, like a snowboard on packed snow. If you switch between surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding depending on the season, you know the problem: when there are no waves, you need a plan B. This plan B does not copy natural boardsports, it comes close: a leaning ride, close to carving. On tarmac, tracks or compacted paths, the board responds to how you lean rather than to pushing.

Features that count for an experienced rider

The figures that count: in 2000 W, the Stern' climbs slopes of up to 35% and picks up speed out of turns straight away. The battery is carried in a backpack and charges in 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes with the 10 A fast charger, depending on its capacity. IP67 waterproof, it rides in the rain and can be rinsed with a hose after a session on wet sand. Its chassis is the same as that of the rental boards, which are exposed to sand and mud.

Which configuration to choose if you ride often

For a rider who does session after session, the 2000 W configuration with backpack battery gives the power and endurance needed on varied terrain. See the Stern' 2000 W page for details of the range (50, 75 or 100 km depending on the battery capacity chosen) and the full specifications table. To compare the eight configurations in the range, see also the Compare the configurations page.

What sets an all-terrain longboard apart from a street longboard

An all-terrain longboard like the Stern' is not limited to smooth tarmac. The tyres and ground clearance let you ride on tracks, in the forest or on paths, where a classic street longboard would get stuck. For riders who switch between town and nature, it is the difference between an urban leisure board and a tool that really keeps up with demanding boardsports.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Stern' really give sensations close to snowboarding?

The three-wheel layout with the motor in the rear wheel gives a natural lean in turns, different from a classic four-wheel skateboard. It is not identical to snowboarding on snow, but the feeling of a leaning ride comes much closer to it than a scooter or an electric bike.

Can you ride this board all year round?

Yes, IP67 waterproofing allows use in the rain and rinsing with a hose after a session on sand or slush. Range and maximum slope depend on the configuration chosen; see the specifications table on the product page.
