Why a removable battery matters in a van
With the backpack battery, you charge it in the van while the board stays stored somewhere else. A worn battery is also easier to replace, without the board being out of action. To compare the two options, see the Removable or integrated battery guide.
Exploring beyond where you park
A van cannot always park where you want to explore. As the Stern' is IP67 waterproof and can climb slopes of up to 35% depending on the configuration, it lets you reach a coastal path, a village you cannot drive to or a beach far from the car park, without relying on a second means of transport.
Which configuration for nomadic life
For mixed use between short journeys and longer explorations, the 1000 W configuration with a 25 Ah backpack battery offers up to 100 km of range depending on the terrain, with a battery weight kept to 7 kg that you can carry in a backpack. Charging without fixed infrastructure
The standard charger supplied plugs into an ordinary socket, compatible with most electrical hook-ups at campsites or motorhome service areas. The optional 10 A fast charger charges the battery in 1 hour (integrated battery) to 2.5 hours (25 Ah backpack).

Frequently asked questions
Can you charge the battery without access to a fixed 220 V socket?
- Yes, via a 12 V converter compatible with the van's electrical system, as well as charging from an ordinary socket at each stop with mains access.
Does the board withstand repeated travel conditions (dust, humidity, knocks)?
- The chassis and motor are IP67 waterproof and designed for intensive use, and can be cleaned with a hose. Repeated use in varied conditions is part of the product's design specifications.
