The Stern' rides on dry sand, wet sand and even into salt water with no worries for the electronics. The board is IP67 waterproof: the motor, in the rear wheel, is protected from water getting in, and the battery stays in the backpack, away from the sea spray.
The guide
On dunes or very soft sand, the Snow Kit track, fitted on its own, stops you getting bogged down (Stern' 2000 W with backpack battery only). After a beach session, a simple rinse with a hose is enough: no dismantling, no special products.
On the beach, a board faces three threats at once: fine sand that gets into the bearings, salt water that attacks the electrical contacts, and damp that wears out poorly protected casings. The IP67 standard guarantees protection against dust, sand included, and against temporary immersion. An electric board designed for tarmac does not last long here: it squeaks, it rusts, it gives up. The Stern', on the other hand, was born on this terrain: the idea came during a surf session on the Atlantic coast.
By the sea, range depends mainly on the sand: the softer it is, the more power you use. On firm sand at low tide, you stay close to the stated range; on a dry dune, it drops noticeably. Choose your set-up (1000 W or 2000 W, 50, 75 or 100 km battery) according to how often you ride on soft sand.
The Snow Kit track can also be fitted on its own, without the skis: it spreads the weight and stops you getting bogged down in very soft sand. It is only for Stern' 2000 W boards with a backpack battery. See the Snow Kit accessory.
Beach sessions often involve short but repeated trips, there and back to the car park or your accommodation. A 1000 W set-up with a 15 or 20 Ah backpack battery covers most leisure use. For longer beach crossings or full days, a 25 Ah, 100 km battery leaves a comfortable margin.
