The Sternboard Snow Kit replaces the Stern's rear wheel with a motorised track and the front wheels with two steering skis.
The guide
Fitted with the Snow Kit, the Stern' rides on groomed snow, 10 to 30 cm of fresh snow and frozen ground, with the same IP67 waterproofing. The kit fits in a few minutes using only the Allen key supplied with the Stern', on Stern' boards with a 2000 W motor and backpack battery only.
A standard wheel spins as soon as the snow is more than a few centimetres deep. The track spreads the weight over a larger area and keeps its grip where a wheel would stall. The two front skis do the steering, as on a snowboard, with no lift pass and no ski lift.
The Stern's electronics are protected down to −20 °C. In very cold weather and deep snow, range drops noticeably compared with the 100 km stated on tarmac (25 Ah battery): snow takes more energy. The backpack battery stays the same and recharges in 2.5 hours with the 10 A fast charger.
The Snow Kit only fits Stern' boards with a 2000 W motor and backpack battery: in deep snow and on slopes, it is the motor's 40 Nm of torque that drives the track, and the integrated battery is not compatible with the track.
